Wonders of CGI

Friday, February 5th, 2010

The real village used as the set for the camp of the ‘Others’ in Lost has been found on street view: here

I must say it slightly spoils the illusion realising that it has a highway running right beside it, but it certainly shows how amazing CGI is these days that when there are 360 degree shots of the camp you don’t notice this.

The video below shows a demo reel from Stargate Studios showing how some shots in TV shows are actually filmed. I recognise some of the scenes in the video and you really wouldn’t realise with most of them that they weren’t filmed on location.

Lost Summary in 8:15

Friday, January 8th, 2010

One of my favourite TV shows has to be Lost, I can’t wait for it to return for the final season in February. So much has happened in the show in 5 seasons and I found this video which somehow summarises all 5 seasons in 8 minutes 15 seconds (8 and 15 of course being very important numbers in Lost).

It’s certainly got me wanting to see the new season even more. Watch the summary and refresh your memory, or find out what has happened for all those who gave up on it.

Apprentice LEGO

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Some of you may know I am a big fan of ‘The Apprentice’, it’s always good seeing what some of the self-proclaimed ‘business(wo)men’ do when put through the tasks – sometimes they do well, sometimes they do awful. The boardroom at the end is generally the best bit, hearing them try to justify what they’ve done and see Sir Alan Sugar’s reaction to it all. I discovered a series created by Boleg Bros which covers all the final boardroom sequences, except in LEGO. They’ve managed to recreate everybody so well, I couldn’t imagine it being easy turning them into LEGO characters.

Here are the final two videos:

Week 11 – Lucinda is fired

Week 12 – Lee is hired

They’ve even created a LEGO Apprentice Boardroom Invaders game.
